Critically Acclaimed Anime Films: The Ultimate Ranking 🎬

Rotten Tomatoes has revealed its selection of the 100 most critically acclaimed anime movies, with The Tale of the Princess Kaguya from 2013 topping the chart.

This esteemed collection was curated from movies that originated as Japanese animation, and highlights the most lauded titles according to the site's critical scores.

Marking the 35th anniversary of the iconic 1988 hit Akira by director Katsuhiro Ohtomo, the list places this groundbreaking film at the 26th position.

The Tale of the Princess Kaguya was a creative endeavor by Isao Takahata, retelling a tale from Japan's literary history. Takahata, one of the founding members of the renowned Studio Ghibli, directed two other films that secured the second and third spots: Only Yesterday in 1991 and Grave of the Fireflies in 1988.

The silver medal goes to 2022's The First Slam Dunk, with Takehito Inoue at the helm, while the fifth spot is clinched by 2016's Your Name.
