The most common fix for Vodafone WiFi connection issues is to perform a simple reboot of your router, which often resolves temporary glitches without affecting your settings or password. Start with the simplest fix first, then work outwards. The steps below cover the most common causes in order.
Why is my Vodafone WiFi not connecting?
The most frequent cause is a temporary glitch in the router or modem. Broadband signal can be fine while the WiFi side of the same device stops broadcasting correctly. This is a different problem from a full outage, and it usually sorts itself with a reboot.
Other causes include a network fault in your area, a problem specific to one device, or a WiFi password that has somehow changed or been forgotten.
Is there an outage in your area?
Before touching your router, check whether Vodafone has a known fault near you. Go to vodafone.co.uk/network/status-checker and enter your postcode. If there is an active outage, rebooting your router will not fix it and you simply have to wait for Vodafone's engineers to resolve it.
How to reboot your Vodafone router
Switch the router off at the wall socket. Wait a full 60 seconds, then switch it back on. Give it two to three minutes to re-establish the broadband connection before trying to reconnect your device.
Once it restarts, check the WiFi LED on the front of the router. A solid white or green light (depending on your model) means WiFi is broadcasting. A flashing or amber light suggests the router is still trying to connect, or there is a fault worth reporting.
Is the problem your device or the router?
Try connecting a second device, a phone, tablet, or laptop, to the same WiFi network. If that device connects without trouble, the fault is with your original device rather than the router. Try forgetting the network on that device and reconnecting from scratch, entering the WiFi password again carefully.
When to contact Vodafone support
If rebooting the router does not help and the status checker shows no outage, contact Vodafone directly. Their broadband support page at vodafone.co.uk/help/broadband-support lets you run a performance test and reach an adviser. Vodafone assigns one person to handle your query from start to finish, with updates available through the My Vodafone app.
If you are thinking about switching provider as a result of ongoing problems, Vodafone offers up to £200 in credit to help cover any leaving fees from your current provider, so that option is available if the issues persist.
