AT&T Expands C-Band Rollout, Boosts Spectrum
AT&T has significantly expanded its C-Band spectrum deployment, doubling the amount available for use by mobile operators. This development allows for capacity and data rate increases across various cities and markets. According to an AT&T representative, network performance is expected to improve over the next few months as the company continues its rollout of licensed C-Band spectrum.
Improved Network Performance
A representative from AT&T mentioned to Mobile World Live (MWL) that network performance in select cities will see notable improvements. This is due to the ongoing rollout of the company's licensed C-Band spectrum, which will increase available bandwidth by an average of 80MHz in each market. With access to a minimum of 100MHz of mid-band spectrum nationwide, AT&T aims to enhance connectivity for users across the contiguous US.
Expanded Coverage
By utilizing a combination of C-Band and 3.45GHz spectrum, AT&T's deployments now cover more than 175 million people. The company has deployed equipment, including radios, capable of handling the full spectrum load once software updates are completed. This expansion ensures faster data rates and increased capacity in the areas served by AT&T.
"That's bandwidth in every available city, 406 locations in all," stated the AT&T representative.
