WGA Negotiations Set to Resume on Wednesday
The Writers Guild of America (WGA) will resume negotiations with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers after a month-long break. The union confirmed the meeting in an email to members, stating that they now have a scheduled time to bargain, starting on Wednesday. Their main focus is to secure a fair deal for writers as soon as possible.

Previous Meeting Described as a "Lecture"
The last meeting between the WGA and AMPTP took place on August 18 at the AMPTP headquarters, followed by another meeting on August 22 at the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel. The WGA characterized the latter meeting as a "lecture" from the studio heads, with the intention of pressuring the guild into accepting their previous offer made on August 11.

Reaching Out to Restart Negotiations
Since that time, the two sides have not met, but the WGA recently reached out to the alliance to request a meeting. While the WGA confirmed talks about restarting negotiations, the details of who initiated the contact were not addressed.

Although there has been some progress in artificial intelligence regulations, such as the use of WGA writers' work to train AI systems, the WGA and AMPTP remain far apart on important issues like streaming residuals and mandatory staffing levels in TV writers rooms.
