Dua Lipa Succeeds Billie Eilish At Number One With Barbie Song
A month after the release of the Barbie movie, its soundtrack continues to dominate the UK singles chart. Last week, Billie Eilish's melancholic piano ballad "What Was I Made For" reached number one, featured in a key scene towards the end of the film. Now, Dua Lipa takes the spotlight as she topped the UK chart with her Barbie cut "Dance The Night," featured in another memorable scene where Margot Robbie's character throws a dance party that is interrupted by an existential crisis.

This achievement marks Dua Lipa's fourth UK number one overall and her first as a solo artist since 2017's "New Rules." She previously reached number one with Calvin Harris on "One Kiss" and collaborated with Elton John on "Cold Heart." Additionally, Dua made her acting debut in the Barbie movie, portraying Mermaid Barbie.

Other artists have also found chart success with their Barbie tracks. Ice Spice and Nicki Minaj peaked at number four in the UK with "Barbie World," a song sampling Aqua's hit. Charli XCX, after almost a decade, reached the top 10 as a solo act with "Speed Drive." Ryan Gosling's musical number "I'm Just Ken" reached number 13, and Lizzo's "Pink" reached number 27 following the film's release.
