The Creatives Talk First Edition of 'The Creative Connection'

The alliance known as The Creatives, supported by Fremantle, has unveiled the outcomes of the inaugural edition of "The Creative Connection" at the Venice Film Festival.

Ten production companies, including Lemming Film, Versus Production, Maipo Film, Razor Film, Komplizen Film, Spiro, Unité, Haut et Court, Masha, and Good Chaos, organized a series of workshops to encourage collaboration among writers and producers.

Carole Scotta from Haut et Court mentioned during a panel at the Venice Production Bridge that the aim was to provide a safe environment for writers to work freely together.

The three workshops, titled "Inspiration," "Brainstorming," and "Collaboration," were held in France, Greece, and Germany, and co-funded by the European Commission with support from Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg.

Laura Gragg, head of program at The Creative Connection, emphasized that the focus was on collaboration rather than the final outcome, and currently, five projects are in progress as a result of the workshops.

Gerhard Meixner from Razor Film expressed his appreciation for the program, highlighting the importance of having time to develop ideas without the pressure of immediate deliverables.

Leontine Petit from Lemming Film emphasized the need to give writers time to think about their desired topics, rather than solely focusing on market demands.

Participants also appreciated the opportunity to build a network and establish profound connections with fellow creatives.

Tunde Aladese, known for Netflix's "Transatlantic," spoke of the importance of storytellers and their collaborators taking care of and nourishing one another's needs.

European creators feel a responsibility to protect and preserve European identity and values through storytelling.

Mike Goodridge from Good Chaos praised the initiative, describing it as an outstanding opportunity to pair producers and writers in an unconventional manner.
