Luna Carmoon's 'Hoard' Wins Three Venice Critics' Week Awards
British director Luna Carmoon has been celebrated at the Venice Critics' Week, where her debut feature film "Hoard" has garnered three prestigious awards. Another standout title at the event was the Chilean documentary "Malqueridas."

In "Hoard," which is set in 1984 London, the story revolves around 7-year-old Maria and her mother, who find solace in sorting through bins and collecting discarded treasures. However, their world shatters one night, and the film follows Maria into her adulthood, living with her foster mother. The entrance of a mysterious older stranger named Michael turns their lives upside down, delving into their past trauma, magic, and madness.

Sold by Alpha Violet, "Hoard" received both audience awards in its category, as well as a special mention for Saura Lightfoot Leon, who portrays Maria in her older years.

Specially Acknowledged Performances
The film "Le Vourdalak," directed by French fashion stylist Adrien Beau and featuring Greek-born French actor Ariane Labed, received a special mention for its offbeat vampire narrative based on a Tolstoy novella.

Best Film with a Unique Filming Process
"Malqueridas," directed by Tana Gilbert, gained recognition as the best film of the category. This remarkable documentary was entirely shot on clandestine cell phones by the inmates of a women's prison in Chile. The film's complex post-production process was also commended by another jury.
