The tool is specifically designed for IBM Z and is expected to be released by the end of 2023, with a preview scheduled for IBM's TechXchange conference in Las Vegas next month.

"The code assistant takes a targeted and optimized approach," says Dr Kareem Yusuf, senior VP of product management and growth at IBM Software. "It rapidly and accurately converts code optimized for IBM Z, accelerating time to market and broadening the skills pool. This can help enhance applications and add new capabilities while preserving the performance, resiliency, and security inherent in IBM Z."¹

The watsonx AI assistant boasts an impressive 20 billion parameters and extensive knowledge of 115 coding languages, acquired from learning 1.5 trillion tokens.

IBM has finalized the sale of The Weather Company, which offers weather data services to consumers and businesses, to Francisco Partners, a global investment company specializing in partnering with technology businesses.
