Matthew Wolfenden, known for his role as David Metcalfe in Emmerdale, is reportedly set to leave the long-running ITV soap after a 17-year tenure. The actor is said to be seeking a change due to a lack of substantial storylines for his character in recent months, according to The Sun.

Wolfenden joins a list of other major Emmerdale departures this year including Fiona Wade, Darcy Grey, Max Fletcher, Karene Peter, Bhasker Patel, and Liam Fox, who played Dan Spencer. There are also rumors surrounding Samantha Giles' future as Bernice Blackstock.

Despite the changes in the cast, Dominic Brunt, who portrays Paddy Dingle, recently discussed upcoming developments for his character's mental health struggles.

"I think he realises how important it is to articulate your feelings. He was quite emotionally immature in that way," Brunt said. "That's the thing with lots of men, we take after our fathers, who take after their fathers, who take after their fathers. I think that's changing slowly but surely. He certainly doesn't feel silly about making himself sound vulnerable anymore.
