Expanding Research and Infrastructure

As part of the plan, Germany plans to establish 150 new university laboratories dedicated to AI research, expand data centers, and improve accessibility to public datasets to generate new insights. The country sees its regulatory framework and the potential to collaborate with other European Union nations as essential factors for gaining an edge over the US and China.

The German government believes that Europe's emphasis on privacy and personal safety in AI development will attract more private investment. Minister Stark-Watzinger stated, "We have AI that is explainable, trustworthy, and transparent. That's a competitive advantage."
