However, this time around, the director's chair is filled by Scott Waugh, a former stuntman and filmmaker who happens to have a personal connection to Spider-Man.

The Expendables 4 director is connected to Spider-Man

In an interview with Comic Book, Scott Waugh revealed that his father, Fred Waugh, was the stunt double for Nicholas Hammond's Spider-Man in the original TV series back in the 1970s.

Waugh expressed his enthusiasm, saying, "I have the original Spider-Man suit from the TV show, and absolutely would be thrilled to be a part of, especially be a part of, a Spider-Man movie."

Although Waugh's directing credits may not be extensive, he has worked on successful films such as 2012's "Act of Valor" and Aaron Paul's "Need for Speed." Recently, his film "Hidden Strike" became one of Netflix's most popular movies despite negative reviews.

Whether or not Waugh will have the opportunity to work on a Spider-Man movie remains uncertain. As for "The Expendables 4," it is set to release this weekend with an estimated $15 million opening in the US.
