Shortlisted TS Eliot Prize Poets Speak to a Disrupted World | Books
The 10 poetry collections shortlisted for the 2023 TS Eliot prize were announced today, reflecting the current state of disruption. According to the chair of the judges, the poems draw inspiration from the coronavirus pandemic, loss, and war.

US poet Sharon Olds, previous winner of the prize in 2012, has been shortlisted this year for her collection Balladz, which explores quarantine poems. Olds' collection delves into themes of sex, love, and the human body with a unique and intimate perspective.

The judges recognized the quality of these collections and deemed them deserving of inclusion.
The other shortlisted debut collection, More Sky by Joe Carrick-Varty, explores addiction, domestic violence, and includes a 63-page poem on suicide.

Painkiller: A Hard-Hitting Drama Unveiling the Opioid EpidemicThe TS Eliot prize, celebrating its 30th year, has been awarded to esteemed poets such as Ted Hughes, Don Paterson, Carol Ann Duffy, and Ocean Vuong. The winner of the 2022 prize was Anthony Joseph with his collection Sonnets for Albert.
