Steph McGovern, known for her roles in 'Watchdog' and 'BBC Breakfast', has opened up about a distressing experience she faced during her time at the BBC. McGovern revealed that she had a male stalker who was convinced they were in a relationship, despite her having no knowledge of his identity. The stalker would follow her everywhere and even wrote letters to her family.

The situation was resolved when the broadcaster's security team intervened and instructed the man to leave her alone. Recounting the ordeal, McGovern said, "I had a stalker when I was at the BBC. It was just some guy turning up everywhere I went. He ended up writing to my family, saying he was in a relationship with me. It was really crazy, but BBC security dealt with it. I think they told him to go away, there were no charges. Once he was told to stop, he did."

Although shocked by how the stalker obtained her family's address, McGovern acknowledged that it is a risk that comes with being in the public eye. "It was frightening when it went to my parents, as I did not know how he found out where they lived. Sadly, I think it comes with the job, as that is part of the success of being on TV," she added.
