Ruth Jones to Star in Sister Act at the West End

Ruth Jones is set to join the cast of the West End production of "Sister Act" next year. The show, starring Beverley Knight and Alexandra Burke, will run at the Dominion Theatre from March 15 to August 31, 2024.

Based on the popular film, "Sister Act" tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, an aspiring musician whose life takes an unexpected turn when she witnesses a murder.

Beverley Knight and Alexandra Burke in Lead Roles

Olivier Award-winner Beverley Knight will reprise her role in "Sister Act" from March 15 to June 8, 2024. Following her, Alexandra Burke, best-selling artist and musical theatre star, will take over the part from June 10 to August 31, 2024. Burke has previously played Deloris in the 2016 tour of the show.

Ruth Jones's West End Debut

Ruth Jones, known as the co-creator and star of the TV show "Gavin and Stacey," will make her West End debut in "Sister Act." She will portray the legendary Mother Superior at the Dominion Theatre until June 8, 2024. Further casting for the production will be announced at a later date.

Speaking about her role, Jones expressed her excitement, saying, "I'm proper chuffed to be making my West End debut in 'Sister Act' next March. It's a crackin' role and a crackin' show. Who knew wearing a habit could feel so fabulous! I can't wait!"

Before her West End stint, Jones will also play the role on tour at the Bord Gais Energy Theatre in Dublin from February 13 to 24, 2024.

About "Sister Act"

"Sister Act" features music by Tony and eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and a book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional material by Douglas Carter Beane. The production is directed by Bill Buckhurst and has choreography by Alistair David. The set and costume design is by Morgan Large, with musical direction by Neil MacDonald, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall, and musical supervision by Stephen Brooker. The casting is done by Stuart Burt.

The production, led by Beverley Knight and Jennifer Saunders, received positive reviews during its previous run at the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith last summer.
