David Macdonald, Senior Director of Sotheby's in London, describes the polaroids as glimpses into transient moments of life that have been in darkness for over 30 years. Now, they are being unveiled and shared with the public, providing a special opportunity to appreciate Mercury's personal world.

Mercury left his London home and all its contents to his close friend, Mary Austin, who has rarely spoken publicly since his death. After making the difficult decision to close this chapter in her life, Austin decided to sell Mercury's collection of personal belongings.
