A highly productive artist, Tony Husband had the ability to create up to 60 cartoons per week. Working from his studio in Hyde, near Manchester, Husband would always have a pen and pad on hand, ready to sketch out any idea that came to him, whether it was on a train, in a pub, or in a car park. He described his creative process as something that just "pinged" into his head.

Selling his work wasn't an easy task in the early days. He recalled writing to Punch and Mayfair magazines to inquire why they weren't buying his cartoons. Punch responded, stating they liked his drawings but not his ideas, while Mayfair said they liked his ideas but not his drawings. Undeterred, Husband decided to do things his own way.
