In a smaller follow-up experiment, 31 snoozers spent nights in a lab to measure their sleep patterns. The participants were allowed a 30-minute snooze on one morning and had to wake up immediately on the other. Although this study suggests some potential benefits of snoozing, it's essential to approach the results with caution. The follow-up experiment had a small sample size and only included regular snoozers who find it easy to fall back asleep after being awakened by the alarm. Therefore, snoozing may not be suitable for everyone.

So, if you're someone who finds it challenging to go back to sleep after snoozing, you may be sacrificing uninterrupted, restorative sleep. As Jennifer Kanaan from the University of Connecticut cautioned, "If you're coming in and out of sleep for 30 minutes, after the alarm goes off the first time, you're costing yourself 30 minutes of uninterrupted, quality, restorative sleep."
