The Story of Toxic Town

Toxic Town is a four-part limited series based on the real-life Corby poisonings. The drama explores the high-profile legal case that took place at London's High Court in 2009. Corby, a town in Northamptonshire, was once home to a steelworks that left behind a significant amount of toxic waste.

  1. Between 1984 and 1999, Corby Borough Council attempted to remove the waste, resulting in the contamination of populated areas and negative health effects on local residents.
  2. Eighteen families representing nineteen young people brought a landmark case, claiming that the dumped toxic waste caused birth defects.
  3. The council was found liable by a High Court judge and eventually reached a financial settlement with the affected families.

Actresses Jodie Whittaker and Aimee Lou Wood have been spotted filming scenes for the series, which is considered a UK production under Equity, the actors' union.

While character details have not been revealed, writer Jack Thorne stated that the series will focus on the remarkable stories of brave women fighting for justice for their children.

Bridgerton seasons 1-2 and Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story are currently streaming on Netflix.
