    McDonald’s in the region speak out

    This action by the Israeli branch has prompted other McDonald's branches in the region to clarify that they operate independently, with different wages and prices.

    Each branch is locally owned and operated, allowing them to make their own statements and donations.

    McDonald’s has more than 40,000 locations worldwide.

    Franchise groups in Kuwait, Pakistan, and other countries have released statements emphasizing that they have no ownership ties with the branch in Israel.

    They have also highlighted that McDonald’s Corporation is a listed company owned by shareholders from around the world, including Arabs and Muslims. The corporation remains neutral and does not take political positions for its commercial interests.

    The branches in these regions have expressed solidarity with Gaza during these difficult times.

    McDonald’s the franchise stays quiet

    McDonald’s Corporation has stated that it is looking after its franchises and has made a £823,112 donation to the Red Cross and the World Food Program to aid in the ongoing situation.

    The corporation declined to comment when approached by Reuters.

    McDonald’s in Birmingham is targeted

    A TikTok video circulated showing someone painting mice in the colors of the Palestinian flag and then throwing them into a nearby McDonald’s, while shouting "Free Palestine!

    However, the video and the account that posted it were later removed.

    It’s not just McDonald’s

    Other major brands, including Starbucks and Disney, have also faced criticism for their support of Israel during the conflict.

    Starbucks clashed with its employees in the Workers United union over pro-Palestine social media posts.
