Matthew Perry Honored by Friends Cast in Joint Statement

Former Friends co-stars have expressed their deep sorrow in a joint statement following the untimely death of Matthew Perry, who portrayed the beloved character Chandler Bing.

The 54-year-old actor was found deceased at his residence in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The heartbreaking news has led to an outpouring of tributes from around the world, including fellow Friends cast member Maggie Wheeler, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and singer Adele.

Now, Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer, Lisa Kudrow, Courteney Cox, and Matt LeBlanc have taken a moment to honor their dear friend and co-star with a heartfelt tribute.

“There is so much to say, but right now we’re going to take a moment to grieve and process this unimaginable loss.

“In time, we will share more, when we are ready. For now, our thoughts and love are with Matty’s family, friends, and all those who cherished him across the globe.”

The six cast members found global fame when they starred as a group of young adults navigating life and love in New York City on the hit show Friends, which premiered in 1994.

During their ten years of working together on the sitcom, the cast formed a strong bond and even united to negotiate their salaries collectively when they discovered pay disparities in the early years of the show.

In his memoir titled "Friend, Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing" released in 2022, Matthew Perry also opened up about the unwavering support he received from his co-stars as he battled addiction issues.

All six cast members last reunited during the delayed 2021 special, commemorating the 25th anniversary of Friends. The reunion allowed them to reminisce about the show's most iconic moments.

David Crane and Marta Kauffman, the creators of Friends who cast Matthew Perry in the show, along with series executive producer Kevin Bright, also issued a joint statement acknowledging Matthew's immense talent.

“He was a brilliant talent. It may be a cliché to say that an actor truly embodies a character, but in Matthew’s case, it couldn't be more accurate.

“From the moment we heard him bring Chandler Bing to life, we knew he was irreplaceable.

Many of Matthew’s devoted fans have also paid tribute to his legacy of helping those struggling with addiction and reflected on his memorable moments as Chandler Bing.
