I’ve been mugged all through the Village, Times Square, Upper West Side," Broderick revealed. Being a young boy and lacking financial resources made him vulnerable to these attacks. He shared that it happened frequently when he was around 12 years old, emphasizing that it was mostly other boys trying to take his lunch money.

Broderick recalled one harrowing incident while skateboarding in Central Park with a friend. He described how a gang suddenly appeared, attacked them, and stole their belongings. Broderick even got hit on the head with a stick during this frightening encounter but expressed gratitude that they all survived.
Intimidating Subway Encounters
Broderick further shared "intimidating" experiences he faced, including encounters on New York trains. He detailed situations where strangers would sit next to him, put their arm around him, and aggressively interrogate him about his possessions and personal information. He explained the fear and constant anticipation of the train emerging from the tunnel as an escape from these situations.
Parents' Less Watchful Era
While Broderick confided in his parents about the muggings, he acknowledged that their level of vigilance wasn't as high as it is today. He mentioned that during his school days, a police officer would visit and teach them methods to handle such situations.
