"The reason I started producing was because I didn't want to sit around waiting for Brad Pitt or Tom Cruise or whoever was already established before me and were the guys at the time, and Leo to go and pass on a movie until I could get my hands on it," Wahlberg explained. "So I was always proactive in trying to find material and things that I could produce, that I knew was right for me, create my own destiny."

Over the past two decades, Wahlberg has successfully transitioned into producing TV series and movies such as "Father Stu," "Entourage," and "Boardwalk Empire" while also maintaining his acting career. He expressed a desire to have more creative control over the films in which he is a lead actor, stating that he would rather be "behind the wheel" if he's going to be in that position.

Looking Toward the Future

While Wahlberg continues to work on various projects, he questioned how much longer he will sustain his current pace of acting. He acknowledged that he is working harder than ever but hinted at the possibility of exploring opportunities outside of Hollywood "sooner rather than later." Wahlberg wants to build a viable business for his four children with Rhea Durham, providing them with a solid foundation for the future.

"Certain businesses, you kind of build them, pass them on or you exit. Hopefully my kids, we'll see what their interests are, but I don't think that I'll be acting that much longer at the pace I am now. That's for sure. Because that's the most difficult thing," Wahlberg shared.

Wahlberg's decision to venture into producing has allowed him to take control of his career, ensuring he doesn't have to rely on the availability or decisions of other established stars. He remains ambitious and is actively shaping his path in Hollywood.
