The Future of Global Connectivity: Satellite Service Innovations ️
Addressing Satellite Communication Economics: During a discussion on the viability of satellite services, Lynk Global CEO Charles Miller shared insights on the business models shaping the industry. Emphasizing the importance of affordability, he mentioned that emergency SMS services should not carry a cost barrier, suggesting that if there was a market for paid emergency SMS, companies like Apple would set a precedent.

Miller highlighted that with their substantial profits, certain tech giants have the capacity to support emergency services, reinforcing the idea that such vital communications should remain cost-free for users, stating emphatically: “No one wants to pay for SOS alerts.”

Miller stressed that his company is dedicated to offering a "more robust, more expansive service" that aims to connect individuals globally. With several contracts already underway, Lynk Global's satellite-to-phone system is making headway, with four commercial contracts already signed.

The CEO shared the company's phased approach, starting with SMS and broadband, and potentially introducing voice services in the future. He expressed concern for the approximately 750 million people suffering from lack of connectivity—referring to it as the biggest challenge in the mobile sector.

Lynk Global's strategy stands in stark contrast to some of its competitors. Miller cast doubts on Globalstar, deeming its satellite production strategy inefficient and costly.

With an emphasis on in-house vertical integration, Lynk Global has managed to reduce the cost per satellite significantly, a competitive advantage Miller is keen to highlight.
