A former BBC broadcaster has spoken out about her decision to leave the company after two decades due to a combination of workplace conflict, societal divisiveness, and the emotional toll of covering difficult news stories.

When redundancy packages were offered at the BBC, coinciding with her completion of training as a family mediator, she saw it as an opportunity to make a change.

Leaving a staff salary was nerve-wracking for her, but she felt it was the right time to move on and explore something different after working in the same field for 30 years.
