Lenny Henry: Black history education should be more than just one month a year

He expresses, "Black kids are black all year round, they need to have a sense of what's been going on running as a seam all the way through their education, not just one month a year."

Three Little Birds, set in 1957, tells the story of three women who leave the Caribbean for the West Midlands in search of a new life. While the drama takes inspiration from Sir Lenny's mother's stories, he emphasizes that the characters in the show are fictional. He humorously adds, "This isn't my mother's story, okay? Because my family is very litigious, they will come and they will sue my backside. This is lots of people's stories...it's for all of us."
