The former contestant of Love Island, Georgia Harrison, has revealed that she has had "serious conversations" with a few Labour MPs about potentially representing a constituency in Essex. Harrison, who rose to fame on the reality show The Only Way Is Essex, has become an advocate for addressing violence against women and girls following a revenge pornography court case she was involved in.

Harrison's former partner, Stephen Bear, a winner of Celebrity Big Brother, was recently imprisoned for sharing intimate footage of her online without her consent. Speaking to the Sun, Harrison shared, "I had serious conversations with a couple of Labour MPs about if I could run for Essex, and they said it would be possible. They told me to go away and think about it. They said if I was being serious about running for an MP, it is something that they would support me with.

The 28-year-old reality star believes that her potential candidacy could be an inspiration for young girls, stating, "I think also for little girls growing up seeing someone like me running for an MP would be quite inspiring. We need more normal people going into politics."

Advocacy for sexual assault victims and justice system reforms

During the Labour party conference in Liverpool earlier this month, Harrison used her platform to call for improved prioritization of sexual assault victims in the justice system. She highlighted the detrimental impact of the years she waited for her revenge pornography case to be heard, underscoring the toll it took on her career and mental health.

Harrison also advocated for stricter regulations on "massive online platforms," urging them to swiftly remove sexually explicit content that is posted without consent. In recognition of her activism, she was honored at the Glamour Women of the Year awards.
