Jude for the West End: All Edinburgh Theatre.com
Edinburgh Oscar winner in Enfield Haunting
Edinburgh school student Jude Coward Nicoll is set to make his professional stage debut in the West End. He has been cast alongside Catherine Tate and David Threlfall in the play The Enfield Haunting at the Ambassadors Theatre in London. The limited season production is based on one of the most famous poltergeist events in the world.
Jude, a 16-year-old pupil at Broughton High School, voiced the role of The Boy in the Oscar and BAFTA-winning animation The Boy, The Mole, The Fox And The Horse. He has also appeared in several shows at Traverse Theatre, including Over The Waves, Beneath The Surface, and Stolen Futures.

Journey Into the Enfield Poltergeist
In The Enfield Haunting, Jude will be playing the role of Jimmy Hodgson, the son of Catherine Tate's character Peggy Hodgson. David Threlfall will portray ghost hunter Maurice Grosse, and Ella Schrey-Yeats and Grace Molony will portray Jimmy's older sisters, Janet and Margaret.

The play centers around the Hodgson family, an ordinary working-class family living in a council house in Enfield, North London. In the summer of 1977, they experienced a series of unexplained events involving furniture and toys moving on their own, marking the start of one of the most famous poltergeist events in history.
First-Hand Accounts of the Supernatural
One of the highlights of the story is the possession of sixteen-year-old Janet, who was nearly pulled out of a window and seen floating in a room. Doctors witnessed Janet growling for hours in a voice that should have damaged her vocal cords, emphasizing the supernatural nature of the events.

Uncovering the Haunting Truth
Playwright Paul Unwin has based The Enfield Haunting on first-hand accounts from one of the ghost hunters involved in the events. He explains that his encounter with poltergeist expert Guy Lyon Playfair revealed terrifying details that could not be easily dismissed. The play aims to delve into the psychological aspect of the haunting, presenting a ghost story that resonates with contemporary audiences.
Limited West End Season
Directed by Angus Jackson, The Enfield Haunting will have performances at the Theatre Royal Brighton and Richmond Theatre before settling at the Ambassadors Theatre in London. The West End season will run from November 30, 2023, to March 2, 2024.
