Gosling, 52, revealed that her departure from broadcasting was prompted by a period of conflict during her time at the BBC. She emphasized the need for more collaborative conversations during that difficult time. "I also got divorced, so obviously, I had that midlife change also and that awareness of what goes on with that," shared Gosling in an interview with The Telegraph.

These challenges inspired Gosling to train as a mediator, enabling her to facilitate discussions between conflicting parties. She expressed her desire to be the support she wished she had during her own difficult times.

When faced with the BBC's staff cuts and redundancy packages, Gosling viewed it as an opportunity to explore new career paths. "I knew that I needed to do this, I was done with what I had been doing, I'd been doing it for 30 years. I'd absolutely loved it but it was definitely time to do something different," said Gosling.

Gosling's emotional farewell on the BBC News Channel went viral, resonating with viewers as she signed off after a 23-year career. She received applause from colleagues in the studio, marking the end of an era.

"Now it is just about time for me to say goodbye for the last time. I am signing off after 23 years at BBC News and before I go there are just a few things I wanted to say. I know this job is personal. We come directly into your home to tell you what is happening - good, bad, funny, sad," said Gosling during her final broadcast.

Following her career change, Gosling currently hosts a show on Classic FM but has no plans to return to news broadcasting. She is committed to helping couples navigate and settle disputes without resorting to legal proceedings.

Gosling was previously married to Sir Craig Oliver, the former communications director for David Cameron. They divorced in 2014 and share three daughters together.

Irwin Mitchell recently announced Gosling's appointment as a Senior Associate on their Family Law team. In a statement, Gosling expressed her passion for helping people find resolution through conflict and her excitement in joining the caring family team at Irwin Mitchell.
