In an Instagram post, Paltrow shared fond memories of her "magical summer" with Perry in 1993, just a year before the debut of the hit show Friends.

"I met Matthew Perry in 1993 at the Williamstown Theater Festival in Massachusetts," wrote Paltrow. "We had so much fun together, exploring creeks, hanging out at local bars, and sharing kisses in a field of long grass. It was a truly special summer."

Paltrow revealed that Perry had already filmed the pilot episode of Friends during their time together. However, he had yet to realize the immense success the show would achieve.

Although their relationship was short-lived, Paltrow emphasized that she and Perry remained friends for a while before drifting apart. Nevertheless, she always cherished their encounters in the Hollywood scene.

"I am deeply saddened today, as so many of us are," Paltrow expressed. "I hope Matthew has found peace. That's all I want for him."

Matthew Perry passed away at his Los Angeles home at the age of 54. The cause of death has not been confirmed publicly.

In his memoir, "Friends, Lovers And The Big Terrible Thing," Perry briefly mentioned his make-out session with Paltrow during the summer before Friends premiered.

When asked about Paltrow's remarks, Perry told GQ that he hopes she finds their story charming. He added, "I wouldn't want Gwyneth Paltrow to hate me."
