Caird expressed his excitement about bringing Spirited Away to London, stating, "I am proud and delighted to present the original Japanese stage production of Spirited Away at the Coliseum Theatre next year. We had a wonderful time creating the show in 2022 and I’m so happy now to be spiriting away a British audience into Hayao Miyazaki’s magical world."

This limited UK tour of Spirited Away is not to be missed, as it may be the only opportunity to see the play in the country.

What is the story behind Spirited Away?

Spirited Away tells the tale of Chihiro, a 10-year-old girl who moves to the countryside with her parents. As they explore a local town, Chihiro's parents are transformed into pigs after eating enchanted food. In order to save them, Chihiro must work in a bath house and convince the sorceress Yubaba to turn her parents back into humans. Along the way, she encounters various spirits, including the popular character No Face, and develops a love story with a dragon named Haku.

Miyazaki's Spirited Away is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, currently holding the 29th position on IMDb's Top 100 list. It also won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, making it the first hand-drawn and non-English-language animated film to receive this honor.

Spirited Away will arrive in London's West End in April 2024, following its successful tour in Japan in 2022. The original Japanese cast, including Kanna Hashimoto and Mone Kamishiraishi as Chihiro, will grace the stage for a 12-week run at the prestigious London Coliseum.
