Tarana Wireless Secures £50 Million Funding for FWA Expansion

US-based fixed wireless access (FWA) provider Tarana Wireless has successfully raised £50 million in a recent funding round led by Digital Alpha Advisors. This investment will fuel Tarana's research and development efforts and support its continued growth in the market.

The funding will be utilized by Tarana Wireless to recruit new talent across key areas of the business and finance strategic initiatives. Digital Alpha joins a distinguished group of investors, including Axon Capital, Khosla Ventures, and Prime Movers Lab, who collectively injected £170 million into Tarana Wireless in 2022, resulting in the company being valued at over £1 billion.

Previously, Tarana had stated that it did not anticipate the need for further investment as it had already invested more than £400 million in the development of its technology. The company's Gigabit 1 (G1) FWA service offers near- and non-line-of-sight connectivity using licensed and unlicensed spectrum, rivaling fiber-based solutions.

Since its launch in 2021, Tarana Wireless' technology has been deployed by over 270 service providers in 19 countries. Leveraging distributed Massive MIMO processing techniques, the company aims to deliver gigabit data rates, although current operator tariffs range from 100Mb/s to 500Mb/s.
