Hairy Biker Dave Myers reveals most versatile ingredient

Touting its use in salads, mash, roasts, and chips, Myers notes that entire books have been written about potatoes.

Barrow-born Dave said: "Potatoes, you can have them in a salad, you can mash them, you can roast them, you can chip them. And people have written whole books on potatoes."

In Peru alone, there are 'over 2000 varieties', explained Myers.

He urges people not to take potatoes for granted and to consume them when completely in season, after they produce glucose.

He said: "You know you should eat the potato when it's completely in season. Because before it produces glucose we'll never do good chips."

Myers highlighted butcher and potato pies as another way to enjoy them.
