Coronation Street bosses have chosen Britain's Got Talent star Jack Carroll to play the role of Carla Barlow's nephew. Best known for being the runner-up on the seventh series of the talent show, Jack will portray Bobby, the son of Rob Donovan. He has already begun filming for the show and is set to make his first appearance during the festive season.

Bobby's unexpected arrival shortly after Christmas will come as a surprise to Carla, who is unaware of her newly-discovered family member. Currently, Bobby's father Rob is serving a life sentence for the murder of Tina McIntyre. Described as a lively "chip off the old block," Bobby's presence is bound to cause some drama in Weatherfield as he plans on staying longer than Carla expects.

As filming commenced, Jack expressed his excitement about joining the Coronation Street family, stating, "I'm delighted and honored to be a part of the history of the cultural institution that is Coronation Street. I hope Bobby brings viewers a lot of laughs, following in the footsteps of the show's classic comedy characters."

Jack Carroll rose to fame in 2013 as a 14-year-old contestant on Britain's Got Talent. Since then, he has made a name for himself in comedy and acting, appearing on shows like Live At the Apollo, Saturday Night at the London Palladium, and Jason Manford's Funny Old Week. He has also acted in CBBC's Ministry of Curious Stuff, Doctors, and the film Eaten By Lions. Jack recently wrote and starred in the BBC comedy short film Mobility.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
