Listen To The Cat With The ‘World’s Loudest Purr’
A cat in the UK has achieved the astounding feat of having the loudest purr among all domestic cats, earning it a place in the Guinness World Records.

The record-breaking feline, named Bella, boasts a purr that has been measured at an impressive 54.59 decibels, a sound similar to that of a boiling kettle, according to Guinness.

To experience Bella's incredibly loud purr for yourself, check out the video below. The distinct rumbling sound starts at around 1:29.

In the video, Bella's owner, Mrs. Spink, highlights that her and her husband often have to increase the volume on their television in order to hear it over the cat's thunderous purring.
While purring is commonly associated with contentment and relaxation, cats sometimes purr to alleviate stress, using it as a mechanism for self-soothing. Veterinarians have even observed cats purring while lying next to injured companions, leading to the term "purr therapy" coined by Wired.
Bella may have claimed the record for the loudest purr among living domestic cats, but the title for the loudest purr ever recorded by a domestic cat still belongs to two other felines - Smokey and Merlin. Both cats reached an impressive 67.8 decibels, with Smokey setting the record in 2011 and Merlin matching it four years later.
