New data shows that senior leaders and younger workers are embracing AI to increase productivity and reduce workloads. A recent semi-global report on IT workers' attitudes towards AI in the workplace reveals that many believe AI technology can save them valuable time, especially when dealing with complex technologies in their tech stacks.

According to the research conducted on behalf of business software provider Freshworks, which surveyed 2,000 full-time IT workers in various countries including the UK, US, the Netherlands, Singapore, and more, 95% of respondents acknowledged the benefits of using generative AI to enhance their work efficiency. These benefits include spending less time on repetitive tasks, freeing up more time for deep work, and saving up to five hours per week.

In regards to tech stacks, 44% of surveyed IT professionals admitted that their stacks have too many unnecessary features, which hinder their productivity instead of facilitating it. Freshworks' CIO, Prasad Ramakrishnan, believes that AI adoption can help alleviate the burden of overwork for IT professionals.

Efficiency through Smart, Simplified Technology

"The answer to sustainable business growth in today's digital-first world isn't more software. It's more efficient software," says Ramakrishnan. He emphasizes the importance of adopting smart, simplified technology combined with the power of AI to drive productivity and efficiency. Ramakrishnan believes that IT teams will benefit more from automation and technological agility in reducing complexity compared to legacy software.

The Rise of AI Among Different Generations

The report indicates that younger workers are leading the way in embracing AI technology. Approximately 81% of millennials and 75% of Gen Z IT workers utilize AI to support their workload, compared to 57% of Gen X and 27% of boomers. However, the data also shows that workers of all ages recognize the benefits of AI, with 76% of boomers and 93% of Gen X agreeing on its pros. Meanwhile, 97% of both millennials and Gen Z workers acknowledge the advantages of utilizing AI technology.
