Bruce Willis' Recent Health Diagnoses
In March 2022, it was publicly revealed that Bruce Willis had been diagnosed with aphasia, leading him to step away from acting. Aphasia affects a person's language processing and communication abilities.
In February 2023, another update on Bruce Willis' health was shared by his family. They disclosed that his condition had "progressed" and he had been diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD), which affects language processing areas in the brain. FTD presents differently from Alzheimer’s and can impact speech, behavior, personality, and executive functioning.

Susan Dickinson, CEO of the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration, noted that FTD is often misdiagnosed and highlighted some common symptoms, such as unexplained changes in speech, difficulties with finances and work, and impaired decision-making.
Accepting her husband's diagnosis, Emma Heming Willis described it as both a blessing and a curse. Understanding the situation has made it a little easier, though the pain remains.
