Vodafone collaborates with Project Kuiper to expand connectivity in Europe and Africa

Vodafone Group has partnered with Amazon's broadband satellite service, Project Kuiper, to bring improved mobile connectivity to underserved communities in Europe and Africa. Through this collaboration, Vodafone aims to extend its network coverage to hard-to-reach areas using Project Kuiper's low earth orbit satellite technology.

Bringing connectivity to remote communities and essential services

The collaboration between Vodafone and Project Kuiper will enable the provision of 4G and 5G services to remote communities, schools, businesses, emergency services, and disaster relief efforts through digital services. Vodafone Group CEO, Margherita Della Valle, expressed that this partnership will help bridge the digital divide by providing mobile connectivity to a significant portion of the global population that currently lacks internet access.

Additionally, Vodafone and Project Kuiper highlighted the potential benefits for enterprises, including offering backup connectivity during unexpected events and extending network coverage to remote infrastructures. Amazon's SVP for devices and services, Dave Limp, emphasized that aligning with a leading international service provider like Vodafone accelerates efforts to close the digital divide in Europe and Africa, benefiting various sectors such as residential broadband, agriculture, education, healthcare, transportation, and financial services.
