Samsung's Role in the New Leadership

Samsung has taken on prominent roles within 3GPP's working groups. Kyeongin Jeong, a member of Samsung's American research unit, has been appointed as the vice chair for 3GPP's RAN Working Group 2. This group is headed by Diana Pani, VP and head of wireless standards at Interdigital. Pani, who has previously served as vice chair, will oversee the development of radio communications standards between 5G devices and base stations.

Additionally, Jaeyeon Song from Samsung Research and Narendranath Durga Tangudu from Samsung R&D Institute have been re-elected as vice chairs for their respective working groups.

Motorola's Role in the New Leadership

Motorola Mobility's executive director, Jacob John, has been re-elected as the chair of RAN Working Group 5 for the fifth consecutive term. John, who has been involved with the working group for over 24 years, previously served as vice-chair. Xiaozhong Chen from the China Academy of Telecommunications was also re-elected as vice-chair of the same working group.
