10 Weirdest Changes In Starfield's New Game Plus

Throughout different Starfield New Game Plus runs, players can encounter different universes that change Constellation in significant ways. These new dimensions mainly change aspects of the characters at The Lodge, completely changing the story narrative, and sometimes in a very peculiar manner. Though it's necessary to complete the game to unlock these hidden universes, some online have figured out a way to view them all, which has enabled people to see the different variations of the world that can be unlocked upon the start of New Game Plus in Starfield.

While it's still somewhat unclear how to achieve a specific desired universe, as it currently seems it's left up to chance, user lokki125 on Reddit discovered a way to get each unique universe by inserting specific console commands to set the universe before the credits roll. Some of these alternative dimensions are realistic and believable scenarios that make a lot of sense within the game world and story, while others are just a bit of silly fun that Bethesda likely included for a laugh.

Table
  1. 10 Weirdest Changes In Starfield's New Game Plus
  • 10 The Hunter Takes All
  • 9 Vasco Is Alone
  • 8 Walter Shroud Owns Constellation
  • 7 Andreja Is Evil
  • 6 You Meet Yourself
  • 5 Meeting Multiple Doppelgangers
  • 4 Evil You
  • 3 Companions Become Children
  • 2 Vengeful Cora Coe Comes Back As A Starborn
  • 1 Sarah Morgan Is A Plant
  • 10 The Hunter Takes All

Though the quest, "A High Price To Pay," sees the protagonist besting The Hunter in his search for the Artifacts in Starfield, this alternate universe sees The Hunter as the victor, taking over The Lodge and killing all members of Constellation in the process. While his esoteric musings might have served as an interesting dialogue at the beginning of the game, by now, it's worn old, making him feel pretty one-dimensional, just like this lackluster universe.

    9 Vasco Is Alone

This Starfield universe sees Vasco, Constellation's key robot and the only non-human companion one can recruit in Starfield, as the last remaining "living" member of Constellation. He explains that The Hunter wiped everyone out, but he managed to salvage the artifacts and escape before his destruction. As it turns out, everyone's robotic friend is quite resilient, even in the face of supernatural powers.

    8 Walter Shroud Owns Constellation

It was always somewhat confounding that a multi-billionaire like Walter Shroud, co-owner of the Shroud-Eklund ship manufacturing company, would go gallivanting around the galaxy with a group of hapless explorers. In this universe, things are set more in tune with reality, as Walter introduces himself to the protagonist and offers to sell them the artifacts — for a price. This dimension truly embodies the shrewd business executive behind the space explorer, though the fee can be avoided with the right skills.

    7 Andreja Is Evil

In this universe, Andreja goes full House Va'Ruun, commandeers The Lodge, and kills all its members in the name of The Great Serpent. While it would be interesting to see her have some recollection of the friendship, especially as Andreja is one of the few romanceable companions in Starfield, the consequences will likely end with the adventurer taking out Andreja and her House Va'Ruun soldiers.

    6 You Meet Yourself

While it isn't the first time that the protagonists will meet themselves in the game, it is the first time they have a chance to see themselves interacting with Constellation from an outside viewpoint. What's more, being able to recruit a doppelganger as a companion makes for a serious out-of-body experience. This is arguably one of the cooler New Game Plus scenarios possible, as interacting with a custom-created character provides a glimpse into what NPCs see in the game.

    5 Meeting Multiple Doppelgangers

What's even more strange than meeting a single replica is meeting multiple ones, as in this Starfield universe, everyone in Constellation has been replaced with a version of the custom-created character. There's a version for all major factions in the game, including the Freestar Collective, Crimson Fleet, Ryujin Industries, and UC Vanguard. There's even a version known as "Loner You" that is The Hunter-esque version of the character in this universe.

    4 Evil You

For those who have always wanted to become the most evil person in the Settled Systems, the evil version of the custom-created character might be another universe where being a bad guy in Starfield isn't virtually impossible. This dimension sees an evil Starborn protagonist take out Constellation, then turn their gun on the player. While it's also not the first time people will have to fight themselves, it still stands as a rather weird experience, as looking into this mirror uncovers a pretty evil reflection.

    3 Companions Become Children

One of the more surreal Starfield universes one can achieve is meeting the children versions of Constellation. While the child Sarah Morgan will eventually come clean to admit that the kids are just playing as space explorers, the uncanny resemblance of the children to their adult counterparts is certainly a strange scenario, made even stranger by the fact that one can still collect the artifacts as if everything is normal.

2 Vengeful Cora Coe Comes Back As A Starborn

Cora Coe is arguably the best part of taking Sam Coe as a companion in Starfield, and her re-introduction in the game as a Starborn looking for an evil protagonist certainly fits the mold for an intriguing narrative where the main character is the evil villain. In this universe, Cora explains that the protagonist left Cora and Sam to die, but it's later revealed she's looking for the wrong version of the player-made character. It's more than possible to avoid this fight, which one should, especially if they've developed a bond with the juvenile version of Cora.

1 Sarah Morgan Is A Plant

No, not an undercover agent or operative — this dimension in Starfield sees Sarah Morgan, the titular lead of Constellation, turned into a desk plant. Though she won't respond, her name is etched on the pot, leading the protagonist to speak to her. Later, it's revealed by Noel that Sarah actually just retired, and she's not a sentient succulent. However, for a second, Bethesda will likely dupe most people into thinking they've entered a dimension where plants can talk back.

While it would be nice for Starfield to include even more unique changes in subsequent New Game Plus playthroughs, especially with other main faction characters, there's always the hope that more of this variability gets added to the game in subsequent patches and updates or the upcoming Starfield Shattered Space DLC.
