In October, Google is set to launch the Pixel 8 series, which will be powered by the Tensor G3 chipset based on the upcoming Exynos 2400. However, attention has already turned to the 2024 Google Pixel 9 phones, with rumors suggesting they will be powered by the Tensor G4 chipset.

The Tensor G4 is expected to have similarities to its predecessor, the G3. It is rumored to feature one Cortex-X4 unit, A720 and A520 cores for the CPU, and the Immortalis-G715 GPU. Samsung Foundry will be responsible for manufacturing the chipset instead of TSMC due to "low volume" issues.

The Tensor G4 will reportedly be built on the 4LPP+ process, an improvement over the 4LPP node used for the Tensor G3. The exact enhancements brought by the "+ " version are still unknown, as Samsung has yet to release details about its new 4nm process.

While details about the Tensor G4 chipset are scarce and unconfirmed, Google's commitment to Samsung Foundry hints that the company has overcome issues with chip overheating. This makes Samsung Foundry more attractive to phone manufacturers and customers, including Google.
