The space services company, Spire, will be responsible for developing the initial design and operating a demonstrator mission. The objective of the project is to track aircraft by utilizing multilateration, a technique that determines the exact position of planes through radio frequency signals.

Peter Platzer, CEO of Spire, expressed gratitude for being selected by ESA, emphasizing that space-based aircraft tracking and geolocation is the future of air traffic management on a global scale. Platzer believes this collaboration will pave the way for safe, secure, and sustainable air travel.
