RuneScape Player with Over 1 Trillion Gold Loses Account Forever

An avid player and streamer of Old School RuneScape, known as BTCs, has recently faced a permanent ban from the game. BTCs had achieved the status of the wealthiest player in the game, accumulating over 1 trillion gold. However, his account has been banned due to allegations of engaging in real-world trading.

What is Real-World Trading?

Real-world trading refers to the act of selling in-game items or currency for real-world currency. While in-game items typically hold no real-world value, it has become common for players to trade or sell them through online markets. This practice exists in other MMO games like World of Warcraft and Final Fantasy XIV.

The total worth of BTCs' 1 trillion in-game gold is estimated to be around £160,000 according to PCGamer. While BTCs denies the allegations, Jagex, the creators and owners of Old School RuneScape, have stated that the ban will not be overturned.

Pleading Innocence

In an effort to defend himself, BTCs shared his innocence through a livestream on his channel. He claimed that his journey to accumulating 1 trillion gold was closely monitored by the game's moderation team. He asserted that he did not engage in any gold-selling activities along the way.

Despite acquiring the massive gold balance before any suspicious activity was detected, BTCs finds himself puzzled by the sudden ban. He questioned, "If I didn't get banned all the way up to 1 trillion, meaning I didn't sell any gold, why am I getting banned now?"

Earlier this year, BTCs had faced a temporary ban which he successfully appealed and had overturned. However, this time he has been unfortunate. Ayiza, the lead community manager for Old School RuneScape, informed BTCs that the evidence against him had been thoroughly reviewed by the anti-cheating team, and the ban would not be lifted.

One possible reason for the ban is BTCs' recent gold-giveaway event for his community, a practice he has done before. It is speculated that at least three other accounts were banned for allegedly storing some of BTCs' gold balance.

While there have been allegations that BTCs rigged previous gold-giveaways to profit from real-world currency, these claims remain unconfirmed.
