China-based electric vehicle manufacturer Nio has unveiled its first smartphone, targeting its existing customer base in China. This move marks the company's expansion beyond the automotive sector.

In an interview with CNBC, Nio CEO William Li expressed his intention for at least half of their car customers to purchase the new smartphone. This decision was prompted by the company's car app having 600,000 active users, which is 1.5 times the number of Nio car owners.

The flagship smartphone boasts a 6.8-inch OLED curved screen and is equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 processor. With a thickness of 8.9mm and weighing 212g, the device offers a sleek and lightweight design.

One of the notable features of the smartphone is its ability to directly access 30 car control functions with just one click. It also includes a button that serves as a car key.

The pricing for the smartphone starts at CNY6,499 (£892) for the 16GB version, and it is available in seven colours.
