Discover the Nintendo Switch 2 Tech Demo
Zelda: Breath of the Wild isn't the only game that ran on the Nintendo Switch 2 during the tech demo. Nintendo also showcased the hardware performance with The Matrix Awakens Unreal Engine 5 tech demo. This impressive demo, originally released to showcase the power of Xbox Series X and PS5, highlighted the capabilities of the Nintendo Switch 2.

This impressive tech demo made use of Nvidia's DLSS upscaling technology and featured advanced ray tracing. These enhancements allowed the Nintendo Switch 2 to offer visuals comparable to the current-gen Xbox and PlayStation consoles. However, it's important to note that the Switch successor doesn't possess the same raw power as the Xbox Series X or PS5.

Interestingly, Nintendo filed patents in March 2020 for a potential AI upscaling technology. These patents, which became available to the public in 2021, describe a process similar to the main functionality of the Nintendo Switch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is designed to dynamically adjust game resolution based on whether the device is running on battery or connected to a power socket or TV. The games can run at a lower resolution on battery and get upscaled to 1080p when connected to a power source. While Nintendo has not officially announced its plans for the Switch 2, a recent report suggests that it will be unveiled late next year.
