Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 carry forward explained
For the first time, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 introduces the carry forward feature, allowing players to bring their best items from Modern Warfare 2. This is a direct sequel to 2022's MW2 and the first time a game from the same series has been released two years in a row. The MW3 carry forward scheme has been brought in to make the last 12 months of gameplay worthwhile. Here's everything we know about Modern Warfare 3 carry forward:

Modern Warfare 3 Carry Forward Explained
Almost all items from Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 will be automatically available in Modern Warfare 3. The only exceptions are Wartracks and skins for anything that might not be available in MW3. The full list of items that can be carried forward includes:

- Operators
- Operator skins
- Weapons
- Weapon blueprints
- Weapon attachments
- Weapon camos*
- Weapon charms
- Weapon stickers
- Weapon level
- Emblems
- Calling Cards
- Loading Screens
Gear carried forward will be available in MW3 automatically from season one. To claim your items, make sure you're logged in with the same Call of Duty account used for Warzone 2 and MW2. The only items carried forward from Warzone are those earned in the second iteration of the battle royale game, starting November 2022.
Weapon camos unlocked in MW2 will be available in MW3, but only for MW2 weapons. If you haven't played MW2 and plan on picking up MW3, all MW2 guns will be available but must be unlocked with in-game challenges.

How Do Base Operator Skins Work?
Operator skins work the same way as usual when carried forward to Modern Warfare 3. If you have unlocked a base operator, that base operator and its skins are carried forward. If you've only unlocked a special skin and not the base character, such as a battle pass variant, then only the limited-time skin carries forward.

Can You Transfer Items Back to MW2?
The carry forward scheme does not allow transferring items from Modern Warfare 3 back to MW2. However, there is a massive amount of new gear to collect in MW3 on top of the carried forward items. It's important to note that any items carried forward to MW3 are not taken away from MW2 and appear in both games simultaneously.
Now that you know which items you can take into Modern Warfare 3, make sure you're prepared for the MW3 beta, which is right around the corner.
