However, this move comes after the UK Supreme Court determined that Rwanda is not a safe destination for refugees, thus deeming the plan illegal.

Monbiot took the opportunity on the BBC platform to reiterate his criticism, stating that the government’s strategy serves more as a distraction from its own shortcomings than a genuine solution for immigration and asylum issues.

He described the treatment of asylum seekers by the government as an act carried out by a "government of sadists," accusing them of abusing their power to demonstrate toughness rather than offering the safety that those who have experienced "unspeakable things" desperately seek.
