The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US has set the requirements for Dish Wireless to conduct drive tests for its 5G network deployment. The FCC has given Dish Wireless a timeframe of six months to prove that its network can deliver minimum downlink data rates of 35Mb/s to at least 70% of the US population under "ordinary" usage conditions.

Dish Network's EVP of external and legislative affairs, Jeff Blum, expressed the operator's commitment to complying with the 5G requirements and expanding its coverage and service offerings to provide competition in the wireless market as the nation's fourth facilities-based carrier.
