During the recent bank holiday weekend, many travelers encountered delays and disruptions. Now, British holidaymakers must prepare for a new rule that will affect their travel to 30 European countries.

Due to Brexit, UK citizens will no longer have free movement across the EU. Starting from next year, travelers will need to apply for special travel permits. These permits will be required to visit certain countries in Europe.

One of the key aspects of this rule is the introduction of an entry requirement called ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System). Brits purchasing this permit will have a £6 pass added to their passports.

Once the pass is obtained, travelers will have the freedom to explore Europe without any restrictions. The pass can be applied for through the official ETIAS website or a mobile app.

While the application process should only take a few minutes, the European Union warns that it may take up to 30 days to receive clearance. Based on the passport challenges faced during the post-Covid period, it's advisable to apply well in advance.

It's important to note that the ETIAS pass functions as an additional security check and is not equivalent to a visa. Once obtained, it remains valid for three years or until the passport expires.
