Omar Sharif was an Egyptian actor with a net worth of $2 million. Born in Alexandria, Egypt in April 1932, Sharif studied at British Victoria College, the University of Cairo, and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London.

Sharif had over 100 acting credits to his name. He made his film debut in Devil of the Sahara and Siraa Fil-Wadi in 1954. However, he is best known for his role as Sherif Ali in the 1962 film Lawrence of Arabia. This role earned him two Gold Globe Awards for Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture and New Star of the Year – Actor. He was also nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Sharif continued his success with his portrayal of the title character in 1965's Doctor Zhivago, for which he won his third Golden Globe Award for Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama.

Aside from his film career, Sharif also authored five books. In recognition of his contributions to the arts, he was awarded the inaugural Sergei Eisenstein Medal from the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization in 2005.

In the later years of his life, Sharif faced financial difficulties, leading to rumors of his near bankruptcy in 2014. However, his representatives denied these claims.

Omar Sharif passed away on July 10, 2015, at the age of 83.
