Dolly Parton Declines Presidential Speculations

The widely-adored country music icon, Dolly Parton, has clearly stated that stepping into presidential shoes is not on her agenda. Renowned for her timeless hit “9 to 5,” Parton has expressed her disinterest in joining the ranks of politicians in a recent discussion.

In her typically charming and humorous manner, Parton quipped, “I think we’ve had enough ‘boobs’ in the White House,” emphasizing her intention to steer clear of political endeavors. She finds solace in influencing society in other ways, stating, “I try to do my thing through my songs, through the way I accept people, and the way I try to make a difference.”

Despite her immense popularity, Parton has made a conscious choice to keep a safe distance from political affairs, declining presidential honors not once, but three times – twice from former President Donald Trump and once from President Joe Biden. She did, however, accept the National Medal of the Arts in 2005, although she missed the ceremony at the Oval Office and instead received it later in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Parton's stance on staying away from political commentary was evident during a 2018 interview with ABC’s "Nightline," where she reminded viewers, “I learned a long time ago, keep your damn mouth shut if you want to stay in show business. … I’m not in politics, I’m an entertainer.”
